Hats off to Tinkoff

In the early few days, one constant has emerged. That of the yellow and black jerseys of Tinkoff Credit Systems out on the attack. I am very impressed with the aggressiveness of 25 year-old Pavel Brutt. His attacks and long breakaways are inspiring. He truly is an По-русски (aggressive) rider.

For a team that has had significant setbacks up to and including the exclusion of Tyler Hamilton and Jorg Jaksche from the start list just before the Giro.

This goes to show that you do not need to shop for named riders on the scratch and dent shelves of cycling to find a team that can compete, provide entertainment, and much desired publicity.

Interesting note, you no longer see Hamilton, Jaksche, and Danilo Hondo’s name on the team’s website even though Tyler Hamilton’s latest post paints a picture of a man still part of the squad.

What happened to TH? Don’t tell me Operation Puerto has claimed yet another victim.

Sorry Ed but Tyler is now hip deep in OP. He was suspected as being “Rider 4142 in the early OP. He denied involvement and that was that. Now as all the stuff leaks out of Spain, there may also be bags of blood attributed to Rider 4142. This plus some evidence that links Tyler to that code all spells bad news for the boy from Marblehead.

I hold my position that if it is proven that he is involved, he already did his time and this confirms how he did it. It is like someone committing a crime, being convicted on some evidence while protesting his innocence. Then after serving his time, you find a video of him doing the crime. Hey, he was already convicted, what do you want to do, convict him again?

  3. Ed says:

Didn’t he already do his two years? I mean that was at least a year before OP. Wouldn’t that be two different crimes of OP catches him? I could be wrong. I can’t believe we’re discussing all this on the eve of TDF ’08. What a drag!

He did his time. He was convicted for doping in 2004. Unless OP finds evidence of doping sice then, let him go.
