Ale-Jet roars across the finish line

The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.

A tearful Alessandro Petacchi took today’s 3rd stage of the Giro d’Italia in front of a cheering crowd. The victory was sweet after enduring a year of continuing setbacks starting with a broken kneecap in last year’s race. As recent as this year’s Tour of Qatar it looked like Ale-Jet had seen better days.

Sprinters tend to fall off the map quickly once they start to lose that final burs of speed. I don’t know how long Petacchi will be around but I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
