Sean Yates calling for action in recent UCI/Grand Tour spat

Sear Yates from Discovery Channel is assuming the big brother role in trying to protect Unibet.com as they become a pawn in a much larger power play.  In Cyclingnews, Sean calls for a rider boycott if all ProTour teams are not invited.

“Either that, or they say that we scrap the ProTour system. This is all a mess to me. There is no point saying in the meetings that we are going to stick together, that we are not going to reduce the ProTour teams to 18, we are not going to let them boss us around.”

Well, Sean may have a point. At the end, it is the riders and sponsors that take the damage. If the sponsors have another reason to shy away from a sport already in danger, that can’t bode well for a sport that needs to put a few successes on the wall.

Do the sponsers have the stuff to not pull the money, if the riders and teams boycott?? I never quite figured out what the problem is between the big guys and the Pro Tour. But I’m tired of the riders getting kicked in the ass.
