Grand Tours line up remake of Ocean’s Eleven

Why do it?

Cause the house always wins. Play long enough, you never change the stakes. The house takes you. Unless, when that perfect hand comes along, you bet and you bet big, then you take the house.

I have posted before that the Grand Tours are pressing their advantage against the UCI and its ProTour.

The Grand Tours have announced that they will reduce the number of ‘automatic’ bids to the ProTour from 20 to 18. That number will move to 16 in 2008. Remember that there are 20 ProTour teams that until now had guaranteed entry into the Grand Tours (and all events organized by the Grand Tours). Not any more.
Remember that the Grand Tours organize 11 of the 27 ProTour events. Get the reference now?

They are determined they are going to have control over their events, one way or another. This should get interesting.

In the end, will this be good for cycling?

Is this all about money, or power? Or both? Did I answer my own question….
