“I’m fed up with this world full of scroungers, starting with those people who head the UCI”

Dopers should be punished. Period.  That being on the record, I want to say that when you are proven clean, the accusers should bend over backward to set things right.  Most cyclists earn next to nothing and ride for the love of the sport.  Most non-ProTour teams have a budget that would make you think there was a misprint.  “Shouldn’t there be another zero here?”

For some Continental teams, a grand tour berth can be a life saver, literally.  Any scandal is devastating.  In other words, they are like us.  If a big machine wanted to squash us, we would die.

Comunitat Valenciana was initially implicated in Operation Puerto.  By a newspaper!   Based on that report, they have been shut out of racing and squashed by the UCI.  Their sponsor left.

The judicial system exonorated the riders and all but one of the teams management.  The response by the UCI?  They wiped the team off the bottom of their shoe with no remorse and left.  No reinstatement, no apology, nothing. Guys, if you kill the feeders to the ProTour, then the Protour will eventually die.

Why are they still pariahs?  Why are they still not allowed into the Vuelta?

  1. […] Printed in the Daily Peloton. Passionatly written. Ray clearly outlines why cycling needs to be seen as a sport to be benchmarked by other sports who want to see clean competition.  Also, he shows that we need to wait until all the facts are in until judgement.  Look how many riders are now cleared in Operation Puerto!  To see how cycling stacks up against other sports, click here. 2. […] It’s sad to see one of the feeder teams to the ProTour disband. […]
